  Successfully has finalized an international conference “Local Identity Product (LIP) – sustainable support systems for communities in Europe”, organized by association “Latvian Rural forum” in collaboration with project partners “Association of regional brands” from Czech Republic and “Rural development fundation” from Romania.

  Conference invited its’ participants for a common conversation about local food, which has been an actual discussion topic in Latvia during the last year, but hadn’t been seriously analyzed until the conference – what is local food and LIP support systems?

  The main objective of the conference was to show that Local Identity Product (LIP) should play a significant role in economic development of local territories. Conference aimed to analyze an existing schemes and mechanisms on how LIP recognition and realization systems are functioning in different EU states.   

  During the conference participants jointly searched for appropriate policy support instruments for LIP promotion and realization mechanisms. As well through individual experiences of different states the impact of national level and EU policies on the viability of LIP were analyzed. As a summary of it during the conference were created a Report of recommendations for national and EU level policy.
